Sentinel Spectrum

Sentinel Spectrum

Sentinel Spectrum is a monthly tasty chew for the prevention and control of fleas, heartworm and intestinal worms in dogs.

Active Ingredients

Milbemycin oxime, praziquantel and lufenuron are the active ingredients in Sentinel Spectrum Tasty Chews.

Milbemycin oxime interferes with nerve transmission in invertebrates, which helps protect against heartworm, roundworm, hookworm and whipworm (minimum dose rate: 0.5mg/kg).

Praziquantel causes muscle spasm in tapeworm, which are then attacked by enzymes and disintegrate (minimum dose rate: 5mg/kg). It kills all intestinal forms of tapeworm except Spirometra spp, which require a higher than standard dose rate.

Lufenuron is an insect growth regulator that interrupts the flea breeding cycle. Once adult fleas have fed on an animal treated with Sentinel Spectrum, they will then produce eggs or larvae that do not develop to the adult stage. Therefore reducing the number of fleas in the environment.

Sentinel Spectrum Tasty Chews are beef-flavoured, and studies have shown they are so palatable that 97% of dogs accept them straight from the hand.

Dosage and Administration

Dose your dog with Sentinel Spectrum once a month, ideally on the same date.

If a dose is overdue by >15 days, treat immediately and afterwards resume monthly dosing.

15-30 days without a dose, heartworm prevention can still be maintained if treated immediately and monthly dosing resumes for at least the next 2 months.

If a dose is missed by >60 days, a veterinarian must be consulted first in case the animal has contracted heartworm. After 6 months, a blood test for adult heartworm must be performed before recommencing.

Dose must be given with a full meal, either within food or immediately afterwards (to allow effective absorption of lufenuron).
